Go for it! There is a game that will make you happy and stretch your creative muscles. Check with your local college or game store for local groups, clubs, or cons.

Try it out - it's huge fun. Role playing gaming is one of those things where you'll never really appreciate the breadth of possibilities for what you can do until you've started gaming, so I won't gush about just how mind-boggling and exhilarating and just plain fun it can be. But it is, honest. Would I lie?

My advice would be to try an accessible game that can be played in a relatively short amount of time (maybe something like 1001 Nights or Shock). Playing a huge campaign game that relies on tons of dice rolling can be a little intimidating if you've never played any rpgs before.
